To coordinate with their new "Tools for Love" promotion , Sprint Wireless today began offering the Palm Centro in pink.
The "Tools for Love" campaign includes a selection of pink phones that Sprint will push in advance of Valentine's Day. The specifications of the new Pink Centro are no different, but expect this new color to help get the Centro into more hands. The Palm Centro has been doing quite well for Palm. In fact, during their last financial call, Palm warned of "tight component supply" for the Centro. The pink Palm Centro retails for $99 after rebates and is available at Palm or Sprint Wireless. Some of our readers have already seen the pink Centro showing up in retail locations.

It's being widely speculated that Palm and Sprint Wireless will release a pink Palm Centro early next year.
The Palm Centro has been a suprising success for Palm, no doubt buyoed by the aggressive ad campaigns of Sprint Wireless. The attractive price point coupled with a host of features has made the pint-sized smartphone an attractive to new smartphone owners. When I met with executives from Palm to discuss the Treo 680, the informed me that colors are in large part a carrier decision. To paraphrase, "If they want a polka-dot Treo, then we're happy to make it for them." Clearly, Sprint is looking to capitalize on the early success of the Centro with a release of a Pink Centro. The release is reportedly set for January 6th, but it's unclear if this will be for online and telesales or if the Pink Centro will be available in retail locations on this date.
Sprint has an exclusive on the Palm Centro that expires in January. In addition to the Pink Centro, you can expect Palm to announce a GSM version for release on AT&T Wireless. No word on the color that will ship for AT&T Wireless. The popular BlackBerry Curve on AT&T released in both titanium and red, so it's quite possible the GSM Centro will have some sort of color variant outside of black or silver.
