Palm today announced the forthcoming release of two new colors for the Palm Centro on on Sprint Wireless. Available starting on October 19th, the Palm Centro will be available in both Olive and Vibrant Rose. These colors will be in addition to Onyx Black. Pink and Red are no longer available. The new Palm Centro will feature double the storage (128MB user storage up from 64MB) and include both Facebook and Google Maps.

The release date is for select retail locations. Starting on November 2nd, the Palm Centro in Olive and Vibrant Rose will be available in Sprint Stores, consumer and business channels and online at www.sprint.com/centro.

Palm has released a Centro software update for Sprint customers only. The update includes support for the My Location feature in Google Mobile Maps. My Location approximates your location so when you're getting directions, you only need to select My Location rather than input your address. This makes it even easier to find nearby restaurants or businesses, check local traffic, or find the best route to your next destination.
- Improved Gmail IMAP compatibility and an updated setup wizard with the new Gmail settings
- Updated compatibility for Google Mobile Maps My Location feature to approximate your current location great for directions, finding nearby restaurants or business, or checking local traffic.
- Improved ongoing delivery of email sent to VersaMail accounts using Microsoft's Direct Push Technology via Exchange ActiveSync
- Bluetooth usability enhancements and updates
- Sprint TV performance enhancements
- Enhanced AOL Instant Messenger performance
- Improved performance when adding a contact using Mobile Voice Control
- Improved email attachment handling
- Changed default camera shutter sound to ON. Audible shutter click will be heard when taking photos
- Allows Preferred Roaming List updates over the air

Best Buy has lowered the price on the Palm Centro to $39.99 (after rebates), coming ever so close to the "free after rebates" mark.
This week's Best Buy circular offers the Palm Centro for Sprint Wireless for $39.99 after rebates. The Palm Centro is available in Black, Ruby Red and now Pink, all at the new price. The price reflects a $430 instant savings, bringing the price to $89 at time of sale. An additional $50 rebate drops the price to the advertised $39.99.
