Default Free GPS software

Just came across this software/site at sprintusers.com
http://www.amazegps.com/

Free GPS for any Java capable phone.
(Must have built-in or Bluetooth GPS receiver).

I don't have a GPS receiver, but if anyone has one, I'd like to hear how it goes. There is a demo video on the site.

I have a TeleNav Bluetooth Receiver (that goes with the TeleNav service which worked great on my 700p but locks up my Centro) but I don't see a listing for any Palm device...

Oh, but it does! Just use Google Maps. It's free and it works very well. It lets you input business names (like 'Starbucks'), or types (like 'coffee') just like a real GPS.

You can get a real GPS with hot English lady included for less than $200. In a pinch, Google Maps is more than enough.

I'm a palmOS newbie and I just got my Centro and it shows Google Maps - but when I invoke it, it wants to connect to the internet, which is not free... I have a Nokia tablet and I installed free Maemo Mapper, which downloads maps, then I can work offline (saving $$$) - is some palmOS software like that available on the Centro? I have a Nokia LD-3W that provides GPS (I don't know if that's built into the Centro or not) location. I thought palmOS was sort of like Maemo in that lots of utilities are available...

I was also wondering if there's a way to access the internet (say, with a palm browser software) on the Centro through a bluetooth connection to my laptop, which has internet access. I don't want to shell out big bucks for the Verizon internet for my Centro.

THanks!
PattiM

Thank you for the reply - I guess what I'm asking is sort of a complex question. I was wanting to use my Centro to do GPS maps without doing it the Verizon / Google Maps way (i.e., without using the Verizon data internet access I have to pay for) and that involved two things (I believe)

- figuring out how to use my LD-3W nokia bluetooth GPS module with my Centro

-figuring out how to connect to some source of maps and download them and work with them offline. I guess that means there has to be open source utility to do this (like Maemo Mapper in my Nokia 770, only PALM-OS instead of Maemo)

I thought there might also be a way to connect to a map database using the USB connection through my laptop (which has an interent connection).

you can do that if through bluetooth or the usb cable through a laptop that has internet capabilities...
just download a program called mRouter for your computer and follow the instructions here:

VERY strange - I guess the mRouter site has changed hands - there seemed to be only advertising links on any page on the mRouter site.
