Default Insert Ringtones To Phone

How do you add ringtones to the phone? I previously had a Moto Q and with that I was able to add the rigntones directly onto the phone by connecting the phone via usb to the comp. Do I do the same thing for the Centro? Also will ringtones made from Audacity work for the Centro. I used that program for my Moto Q and it made mp3 ringtones. I noticed on other posts that people use something called Minitunes.

Im new to this so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I don't know anything about how it worked on the Moto Q, or Audacity, or Minitunes lol.

What I do know is I followed the instructions at FunForMobile.com and made my own ringtones in just a few minutes, then uploaded it to their site (you have to sign up for an account) and then sent them to my phone easily and they are also saved there to share with other people if I want. I use minitones, but you need to add a micro sd card first - if you havent already, that program looks at the .mp3 files on the memory card and then makes it easy to add them to your phone.

If you dont have a memory card or dont want to bother installing a ringtone app you can check out www.myxer.com..its absolutey free. they will text you anyringotne you want that people make or you can make one yourself using anytype of music file of your pc. its easy to sign up and even easeir to make.
I use both myxer and a ringtone program. Good thing about myxer is the abilty to make wallpapers and stuff too. but the MusicTones allows you to do it on teh go.

Myxer doesn't work with Verizon, but Zedge.net does.

Default Ringer software

I tried trial versions of RingoPro but that didn't work so I used RingCare and that works ok, but it could use more features. What works for ringer program or do you go to Zedge.net without software?

My daughter has this phone, and I have been trying to help her import ringtones. She has a 4Gig SD card, and files have been downloaded to her card from the software. However, the tones go directly into a file that is used by the music player (Ptunes?). How, or can these files be accessed for the ringtones? I did not see a method to search for files, it just listed the ringtones currently in her list that she already had, nothing new.

Thanks,

I found this to be the best way to get ringtones. Simply choose save as ringtone after you have code sent to phone.

If you don't want to sign up for a website to put your own ringtones on your Centro, and you feel that you have a good understanding of the workings of your computer and Centro, you can add them through the Blazer web browser already on your phone. It's a little more complicated, but I have not had any problems with this process. Follow these instructions:

1. Add a music file to your RAM or SD card with Palm QuickInstall (as of yet, I have only used mp3, so I am unsure on its compatibility with other formats).

2. Take note of the folder and exact name of the file (most likely, it will just load to a folder called "Audio")

3. Open Blazer, and type in this "webpage":

file:///Cardname/Foldername/filename.mp3

For clarification, there are 3 slashes after "file", "Cardname" should be the name of the card (whether "PalmCard" or the name of your SD card), "Foldername" will be the name of the folder (eg, "Audio"), and "filename" will be the name of the file (eg, "borntorun.mp3"). In all cases, all the names must be EXACTLY as they are named (case- and space-sensitive), and each will have a slash in between.

4. When you open this "webpage", it will open a download page for the music file, to which you will respond "Copy to Ringtone" and then press "Yes" to continue.

5. After it has downloaded, press "Save" (or "Save and open", it doesn't really matter), and give your ringtone a name. It will be placed in with the rest of your ringtones.

Note: Since this will make the whole music file a ringtone (not just 20 or 30 seconds of it), I suggest editing the music file down in a program such as Audacity (which you can DL for free from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)

I understand that this sounds like a long process, but this is another option for you to use (and one that doesn't use your data connection or text messages).
