Default New Centro/Mac user - need help

I recently purchased the Palm Centro 690 and am enjoying it so far. I have it synced with my mac, but have discovered that it will not sync with my mac.com email. Palm and verizon couldn't help, had to call Apple. Learned that Apple doesn't support the Palm OR blackberry, but they did suggest contacting a forum and that there is 3rd party software that will work. Also, do I need to become a mobile me account holder to make this work? If so, I'm thinking of going verizon email and leaving mac.com behind. Any thoughts/suggestions would be most helpful. I'm looking for the most efficient/cost effective solution.

Are you using Chatter? You can add your mac.com email by setting up a new account in Chatter on the Treo. Should be a breeze.
