Smile Centro, battery life, Mobile Email notify

I've had a Centro, through Sprint, for about 2 weeks now. I noticed my battery would run down in a matter of hours, and I mean several hours.
Under the main menu go to "On Demand", Settings, Auto updates, set to NO.
Main Menu, Prefs, Power, Brightness, set as low as you like, turn the "beam" off also.

Remember, bluetooth transmits radio contantly, turn if off when not in use.

I can run on standby now for several days. Of course if I use it for more that two to three hours I have to recharge.

Sprint Mobile Email will work but won't notify you correctly if you enter your full email address. Use only your user name, NOT "name@yahoo.com", correct example: "first.last" as username.

The only gripe I have is that I can't change the "vibe" I get when notified on Mobile Email, there appears to be no way to change it to an audible alert.

Other than that this is one great little phone!

Just got mine a few days ago and the battery does tend to get low if you use the web features frequently. But it hasn't died straight out before I could get back to the charger.

Hello Yuma,

I'm having quite a bit of battery trouble with the Centro, and am getting nowhere near a full day of Standby. I actually returned it once and this new one is a bit better, but its still about 1/3 the battery life of my old 650.
What menu are you talking about here? Is it the main menu of Sprint Mobile Email? I don't see anything called On Demand there. I haven't even been using that as I'm worried about the battery drain. Thanks!

1, did any of you cycle condition your batteries. I know people say you dont have to with the new batteries, but you should anyways to maximize your life.

to cycle it you should, charge it until it is completely full. then use it and let it drain to nothing!. then recharge it to full. and use it again to nothing. and repeat for a third time. it is best to do it as soon as you get the battery and phone, but better late then never.

also a big drain on battery is sprint's mobile email. if you have it set to push your emails, it will drain a lot faster then once every hour.

hope this helps,
~Mike

Knock on wood I have not had a problem with my Centro battery as of yet. Couple things I do at night. I turn my Centro off at night and I charge it all night. I use Versamail and have my mail checked every 2 hrs. I have bluetooth on all day. I have the "beam" option off. U need to turn that off because it will search for another person to beam all the time. Just a couple of points people.

Default battery problem

I am having a problem with battery life - I have done all of the things shown except I do not know where to turn the beam option off - can you tell me? The battery problem is frustrating because it only happens on some days - others it works just fine.

Thanks for your help

Default Battery Life Issues

I also have battery concerns and returned my phone for a new one which is slightly better. I've turned off the beam option, use Versamail with no push (is that even an option with Versamail?), turned down the brightness. I'm going to try draining it and recharging 3 times as suggested. I love the phone but don't like being so dependent on a charger. I had a 650 before this and had no issues.
