Default Centro can't sync

I recently bought a Centro on craigslist, and it didn't come with the USB cable. Well, I went to Bestbuy and bought a USB cord compatible with the Centro, but it doesn't have a hotsync button.

Edit::
Well, I found out that it isn't even connecting. Do I need to install any drivers, or is Palm Desktop the only thing?

I have a friend with a Centro and he can't get it to sync with a Vista PC. It asks for the drivers or the original CD. We do both and nothing. Any thoughts?

I just recently bought my Centro and I installed the sync software on my Vista computer. You have to put the software on first before connecting the sync cable. Yes, the sync cable has a button to push to start the sync process. Unsure if it will sync without this particular feature on the cable.

As far as i know the software on the Palm cd is the only cd needed.

you can also go to HotSync on the home menu on the Centro and sync from there...or open the Palm Desktop on your PC and force the HotSync from there (doesn't matter if you keep your PDA info in Palm Desktop or not)

I've found that my cables (all 3 of them that I've tried) are touchy. Wish they'd gone with a mini-USB connection like Blackberry. I find that holding it at just the right angle (make sure the red light is lit on your phone), is the trick.
