System Tools or Repair Help, My Centro wont turn on but the red light is on??

Its a Verizon Palm Centro

I have changed batteries, and it is charged. No logo comes up or anything, the screen remained black and the indicator light is on (constant).

Can anyone tell me whats wrong and maybe how to fix it???

Thank you!

Try doing a hard reset - this will erase everything in your phone but it may get it going again. Not sure of the sequence to do this but I know it involves removing the battery, putting it back while holding down one of the keys - do a search for Centro hard reset and you will find it easily (or it may be in your Verizon Centro manual).

If no logo comes on when the op switches the battery it will be impossible to do a hard reset.

Usually when that happens on any type of Palm phone, it means that theres some sort of Liquid/Moisture damage. Now if you're lucky you can grab a toothbrush, damp it in some rubbing alcohol, and clean out the data port. (sometimes works) If you know how to take it apart then just take of the back housing and look for corrosion(will look like a white/green paste), if you find any clean it out with the toothbrush and that should make the phone work again. I don't guarantee it will fix the issue, and if it does it will probably go out again; so the best thing to do is try and replace it.

Although too late for Green, for others that may wind up here in the future try this first:

  • With the red light on, tap the solid color "option" keyboard button, then tap the letter P, then tap the 5-way to the right several times. Hopefully, this simple brightness adjustment does the trick - as it did for me when I once had this very same problem...
