Default I dont think so....

Hey folks. I just got my Centro last night, and the very first thing I did when I got it home was to try and get operamini put on it. I went to their site and took a good look around, and to tell you the truth, I really dont think theres an opera that will run on the Centro. Theyve covered almost every other Palm product, but for some reason, it seems the Centro got left out.....I dont know for sure. I do know theres another application that will have to be installed BEFORE downloading and installing Opera mini. I cant for the life of me remember the name of it though. If anyone is having any luck getting Opera mini on their Centro, PLEASE let me know..I want it bad!!

Thanx,

Rockeye

Default Opera on Centro

I have Opera Mini 4 running on my Centro. You first need Java installed.
I uploaded the Java prc files to a website and used Blazer to install.
(http://jpramlak.freeshell.org/PalmJVM/) Took me a few tries for the large prc.

For Opera, use the MIDP 2 Generic version.

Hope that helps.

I took the files off my website because it caused my bandwidth quota to be exceeded. Quite a popular link! You can still install the JVM via Hotsync.

Yep, the Centro is a great little device. Just this week I had VNC running, connecting to a Linux box. (http://palmvnc2.free.fr/)
It works for Windows too.

Jack

Unfortunately, Palm no longer has the Java files available for download.
See http://www.palm.com/us/support/jvm/

If you happen to get hold of them, upload the .prc files to a website, navigate to it from the Web browser. Click on each file and it will install.
If I still have them, I'll post back here, but I believe I deleted it.

Opera works well. A little slow, but I use it whenever the regular browser doesn't work. ie. there's no mobile version for the site.
