Default Volume Control

Hey all,

Okay, I'm stumped here. I looked and looked and I can't find out how to turn down all the volumes on the phone. If I use the rocker on the left, the only thing that is effected is the ring volume. I refuse to believe that anyone would design something so badly as to have to adjust the message, calendar and phone alerts separately each time I want to lower or raise the volume.

Also, is there any way to make some sort of light blink when I have a message pending?

Thanks,
David.

Can't help you with the blinking light, but if you go to your main home page (menu) and then choose "preferences" you can then choose the option of "volumes and sounds". You shouldn't need much help after that.

Nope, doesn't work that way. Mainly, I was hoping that the side volume control was actually a total volume control, it's not. It only controls the volume of the phone ringer. I can have it set to 1 and if the Text Message is set to 4, then when a text message comes in, the ringer will sound out at level 4...instead of 1.

Apparently I...you...we...have to go in and set the volume of Texts, Calendars and such every time we want them to be louder or quieter...like if I come in from outside to my desk and need everything much quieter than I need them outside. I can't just control the speaker volume of all the sounds with the side controler.

A truly stupid design.

I AGREE! Too bad they arent like Nextels and other phones where u can control system volume by the rocker!

OK, if I understand you correctly, you want a way to change ALL the sound levels to the same level all at one?

My suggestion is an application called Profiles. It is free and it actually is a Preferences panel not an app so when you load it you will find it in Preferences.

Basically, what you would do is set up a Profile for each sound level (I think there are only 7 for the Centro) and in each profile set the individual functions, alarms, alerts, ringtones, etc. to the same level (this part will take some up front work). I would name the profiles something easy like "sound 1, sound 2..."

When you are done with that, these profiles will be available in a Pop Up window accessed by pressing and holding the white option key in the lower left of the key board. There might be other solutions that let you use the volume keys but this way should work.
